عشق صدای فاصله هاست ...

60 years on, refugees visit lost Jerusalem homes

Today I went to a Subway sandwich near our house. It had a promotion of any foot-long sub for only $5. As I entered the restaurant with my wife, the clerk said, Salamon alaykom. He was a nice, handsome young man with a smiley face. Also we heard the same greeting a little later from a guy who was back in the "kitchen".

I had remembered before that a guy from Lebanon was working there, so I asked the clerk about his nationality and he replied that we are all brothers. Later as I mentioned about my nationality, he also mentioned that he is from Palestine and has only been here for 1.5 years. I asked about his neighborhood in Palestine and he mentioned that he is from West Bank. He looked very bright an intelligent, however working at Subway was probably the only opportunity he had.

His age implied that he was from a generation who had grown up in concentration camps and most likely his current opportunity was a dream come true for him. I asked him about his name and he said Musa (Moses!). The irony of love for a prophet whose people have suppressed him and his nation is a grim reminder of what son of Israel did to Prophet Moses himself. I told him that my grand father (rip) also wanted to name me Musa...

As we all look toward building a good life for our selves and our families, Here is a reminder of what happened ONLY 60 years ago and still going on for many of our brothers and sisters.
